June 2024 Fundraising Campaign

Update (3 Jul, 2024): WE DID IT! By midnight June 30 2024, EAA’s donor community hit a new record and exceeded our goal of raising $1.8 million! Keep an eye out for the full campaign wrap-up via email.

Thanks to the generosity of the EAA donor community in just the last two years, our partner programs will be able to help more than 1 million people with improved health, development, and income, and about 1,000 lives will be saved. But many millions more people could use our support.

We’re calling upon donors in Australia to help these programs transform thousands more lives by raising record funds this end-of-financial-year.

We’ve set an ambitious goal to raise $1.8 million for our partners in June 2024 – ~$300k more than our typical June average – and we’re offering a special match opportunity to those who’ve never donated via EAA or haven’t done so recently. See below for full conditions.

What your donation can achieve

We don’t know of any program that can save a life for just a few dollars, as some claim (here’s why saving a life is more expensive than that). But it’s true that some of the most effective interventions out there are relatively cheap. Here are some examples of what your donation could purchase.
GiveDirectly

Gives poor households cash to spend how they like

A donation of…
$30
… could enable a family to pay 2 children’s primary school fees for a year.
Helen Keller International
Vitamin A supplementation program
Delivers vitamin A capsules to children, strengthening their immune systems
A donation of…
$60
… could enable 20 children to get vitamin A supplements for a year.
Malaria Consortium
SMC program
Provides children with preventive antimalarial drugs
A donation of…
$110
… could enable 10 children to get malaria protection for a year.
Against Malaria Foundation
Provides households with antimalarial nets for sleeping spaces
A donation of…
$150
… could enable 40 people to be protected by nets for 2-3 years.
New Incentives
Gives cash incentives to caregivers who get their babies vaccinated against multiple deadly diseases
A donation of…

$230

… could enable 10 children to be enrolled in the program.

*Estimates of impact of a given dollar amount are sourced from GiveWell’s average cost per intervention and cost per life saved for its top charities (available here), New Incentives’ reported cost per infant (available here), GiveWell’s 2023 cost-effectiveness analysis for insecticide-treated net distributions (available here), and figures supplied by GiveDirectly. Amounts are approximate and converted from USD to AUD using rates found on May 30, 2024, on https://www.exchangerates.org.uk/.
