Head of Fundraising

Location: Remote working based in Sydney or Melbourne 
Contract: 3 days a week, initial 18-month contract with view to become ongoing
Salary: ~$120,000/year FTE plus 12% super ($134,400 package) 
and eligible for tax exemption.

The Head of Fundraising will own the creation and delivery of a multi-year fundraising strategy, with accountability for both small- and major-donor revenue. We have been helping Australian donors maximise their impact for 7 years, directing over $10 million to some of the world’s most effective charities. We now have grant funding to grow our impact. Our fundraising efforts are in a start-up phase, so you’ll be hands-on in a fast-paced environment working across a range of activities. This includes sourcing and owning new relationships, testing novel approaches to solicit and nurture new leads, and getting your hands dirty to help deliver on your OKRs. 

 

Responsibilities

 

    • Create and execute our fundraising strategy with the goal of spreading the concept of effective giving to large and/or influential audiences in Australia

    • Develop and execute a major donor sub-strategy, aiming to engage 5 $1m+ donors by 2025

    • Deepen relationships with our existing supporters & partners to achieve retention, revenue and fundraising goals

    • Create and manage scalable, simple processes engage with prospects and existing major supporters

    • Support the preparation of materials for philanthropic and other funding opportunities

    • Represent the organisation externally at networking opportunities and in relevant forums

  • Manage and support 1 staff member initially, and potentially more staff in the future
 

What we’re looking for

 

    • Professional experience in fundraising, wealth advisory, philanthropic and/or business development roles focused on building relationships with high-value networks

    • Passion for improving the world, reducing poverty, and addressing climate change

    • Proven track record of success in major donor or key-customer acquisition

    • Experience in strategy development and execution

    • Desire to build and drive your own success. 

    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced start-up environment, with strong self-motivation. 

    • Management experience, particularly of marketing and communications staff. 

    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Existing relationships in the Australian philanthropy environment and/or business community to help open doors to new supporters.
